Are Humans Becoming Extinct?

In this video (now withdrawn) the author of The Warrior Diet, Ori Hofmekler says that we are losing our ability to sustain life and to reproduce and that if we were any other species we would be considered to be in danger of extinction.
He cites the facts that:
-
Men have lost 20% of their testosterone in one generation
-
Sperm counts are falling by an average 1% a year
-
Infertility is at an all-time high and rising
-
Obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease are all at crisis levels and rapidly growing
-
Nearly all men will have enlargement of the prostate gland
-
30% of men will get prostate cancer
-
Nearly all women currently suffer with oestrogen related symptoms
-
30% of women between the ages of 30 and 65 years get breast cancer
-
Endometriosis is becoming a widespread problem.
And all this in spite of perpetual dieting, billions spent on healthcare and a non-stop roster of breakthrough drugs.
Why?
It is true that our diets are often far from ideal, but what has changed in the last few decades to account for this dramatic decline?
Hofmekler maintains that the main problem is that industry has produced petrochemical-derived compounds such as plastics and pesticides in recent decades which have become ubiquitous and have contaminated our environment and entered the food chain.
These substances act as xeno-oestrogens mimicking the action of oestrogen within the body and causing the deposition of fat and promoting hormone-related tumours in both men and women. In turn, the excess fat then starts to act as an endocrine gland producing more oestrogen, so it becomes a self-perpetuating problem.
Also, whereas historically we ate meats derived from both both male and female sources, the vast majority of meats now come from female sources only. In addition, any male animals used are usually castrated and/or treated with oestrogens to encourage fat deposition and marbling of the meat so that we are getting more oestrogen in our diets too.
Hofmekler believes that we are in the 11th hour to turn this problem around and that drastic action is required. His suggestions include:
-
Eliminating all excess dietary sources of oestrogen
-
Avoiding soy and its products
-
Avoiding oestrogenic herbs such as black cohosh, angelica, clover and alfalfa
-
Incorporating anti-oestrogenic foods such as cruciferous vegetables, seeds, nuts and eggs into the diet.
