Book Review: Curing the 'Incurable'

Curing the Incurable book cover

Discover the Hidden Causes of ‘Incurable’ Diseases by George J Georgiou PhD ND DSc (AM) World Health Solutions, 2009

This book has been written by the owner of the DaVinci clinic in Cyprus which is a place where chronically, seriously - and in some cases terminally - ill people often go when they have exhausted all other conventional treatment possibilities and been pronounced 'incurable'.

It is a weighty tome, running to nearly 600 pages and containing 750 references for the curious or sceptical along with many case studies.

About Dr George Georgiou

Dr Giorgiou came to understand the processes of disease and recovery on his own very personal journey into debilitating health problems which he shares with us in this book. He was originally a psychologist who later specialised in the treatment of sexual dysfunction when he realised that this was integral to most psychological issues.

However, as his own chronic health problems worsened his search for answers led him to study various healing modalities including nutrition, acupuncture and homeopathy.

Over the years in his clinic he has also sought to refine and supplement his knowledge and has subsequently studied a variety of other non-invasive healing  and diagnostic techniques. He holds several degrees and diplomas, some obtained in the UK and the US, and is now actively involved in research, lecturing and has founded a college to pass on his extensive knowledge.

Unfortunately or inevitably - the results he obtains at his clinic have not gone unnoticed by the local medical community. They have been quoted as regarding him as ‘eating a piece of their pie’ and occasionally initiate action against him for 'practising medicine without a license’.

Dr Georgiou has also developed HMD (Heavy Metal Detox) tincture to mobilise heavy metals, HMD Organic Lavage tincture to help promote their elimination and associated chlorella tablets to absorb the toxins in the intestine and enable their excretion. The HMD protocol has been subjected to full double blind clinical trials in a large study.

The allopathic paradigm of health and illness

In this book, Dr Georgiou outlines the difference in approaches between the existing allopathic paradigm and the emerging paradigm. In the current 'conventional' medical view, doctors are taught to regard the body in a mechanistic fashion. This means that their approach of examining defects in structure from both the microscopic analysis of a blood sample to the macroscopic scrutiny of an MRI scan makes perfect sense given their focus. However, the information gleaned in this way says nothing about the physiological function of the individual.

In the current medical model the doctor will have learnt extensive lists of symptoms and he will gather this data from the patient, collate the symptoms and place the individual concerned in a diagnostic ‘box’ which will carry a specific label – whether that be arthritic or diabetic. The physician concerned will then attempt to eradicate the symptoms using pharmaceuticals or possibly surgery. The assumption implicit in this approach is that all people suffering with arthritis or diabetes have the same pathology and will respond to the same therapy or therapies.

As Dr Georgiou points out, this disease ‘label’ sheds no light on the cause of the illness, especially if these causes are complex, multifactorial and have taken decades to develop as is often the case. This approach also requires that the individual becomes ill before seeking treatment and then the best allopathic medicine can offer is essentially lifelong palliative care.

So the very diagnostic protocols that save lives in emergency medical situations create a conceptual problem whereby once the patient has been 'labelled', other possibilities are excluded and the label tells the clinician (and the patient) nothing about the cause of their illness.

The physician then becomes locked into a way of thinking about, and treating the patient and this means that the clinicians involved cannot see a bigger picture emerging.

Also, since nutrition is afforded practically no importance in the medical school curriculum, the concept of preventing illness or promoting recovery using optimal nutrition is not even considered. This means that the very stuff of which the body is ultimately made is afforded no importance and - even when carefully prescribed in a hospital setting by a dietician - the food on offer is either woefully misguided or actively counterproductive to recovery.

The emerging paradigm of health and illness

In this book, Dr Georgiou describes the emerging paradigm of health and illness in some detail. He states that for true healing to occur, the practitioner must address not only the physical body, but also the electromagnetic, mental and intuitive bodies and the highest level – the soul of the client.

When you come to regard the Universe and everything in it is primarily vibration - information -  then new therapeutic and diagnostic horizons open and many therapies make perfect sense.

With regards to the propensity and necessity of allopathic medicine to label disease, in my own family one member has recently transitioned from the diagnostic label of 'Paranoid schizophrenia' to 'Alzheimer’s disease'. Another, with debilitating lifelong 'juvenile arthritis' recently had 'Bell’s palsy' and 'shingles' simultaneously.

Is it not more likely that both the Paranoid Schizophrenia and the Alzheimer's disease are symptoms of toxicity of the brain with Alzheimer's disease representing the advanced, end state? And the toxins (most probably including mercury) that had been responsible for lifelong arthritis also being responsible for both the growth of a virus within one nerve root and the paralysis of another (shingles and Bell's palsy respectively)?

For this reason many naturopaths find the very idea of disease labels almost meaningless and are not particularly interested in labelling the conditions they treat. They regard almost all illness as toxicity and irrespective of the particular symptoms the treatment usually involves systematically identifying and eliminating the causative agents at play in the disease process.

The UK gastroenterologist, Andrew Wakefield, who recently was on the receiving end of some very harsh treatment from the allopathic medical world for his work into autism, describes how autism has been labelled a condition of the central nervous system in spite of the sufferers presenting with multiple symptoms. This condition then becomes the province of the neurologists and input from other involved specialities becomes unwelcome and is often rejected or ignored.

For a very similar reason, chronic fatigue syndrome (M.E.) and fibromyalgia sufferers often get short shrift from the medical profession who have placed their illnesses in the jurisdiction of the neurologists and rheumatologists respectively and do not welcome input from the other specialists concerned with other aspects of the welfare of these patients.

Dr Georgiou's IDEL diagnostic programme

This is Dr Georgiou's acronym for his diagnostic process of IDentifying and ELiminating the causes of the client's illness. When he first sees a patient, he conducts 5 hours of diagnostic testing employing many - mostly non-invasive - techniques and describes in some detail how these work and the information that can be obtained.

His examination includes:

  • Taking a full history
  • A structural examination
  • Iridology
  • Vega testing
  • Heart rate variability monitoring (a healthy heart is slightly erratic and becomes more regular with descent into illness)
  • Infrared imaging to measure physiological changes in blood flow
  • Thermography to detect hidden inflammation
  • Assessing the dental and restorative status of the client
  • Digital homeopathy
  • A thorough nutritional analysis
  • Metabolic typing
  • Live blood analysis
  • Biological terrain analysis
  • Hair tissue mineral analysis
  • Urine testing
  • Breath testing

Contents of Curing the 'Incurable'

In the first half of the book Dr Georgiou explains the impact of diet, toxins, parasites and microbes on health and their role in disease. He addresses the issue of mercury toxicity - or as he refers to it - the 'big one' in disease. He has also developed and refined protocols for the treatment of yeasts and parasites that he shares in this book.

Then, in the second half of the book he devotes a chapter each to the role of dentistry in ill health, bioenergetic and informational medicine, healing at the level of the soul, and cancer.

The chapter on dentistry examines the impact of dental treatment modalities on general health in some detail.

The chapter on bioenergetic and information medicine gives a comprehensive overview of some of the emerging technologies including:

  • Low intensity laser therapy
  • The orgone accumulator
  • Ionising foot baths
  • Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) or thermography
  • Autonomic Response Testing (ART)
  • Su Jok therapy
  • PAP Ion Magnetic Inductor (PAPIMI)
  • Matrix Regeneration Therapy
  • Infrared electric light sauna therapy
  • Bioresonance therapy (BRT)
  • Vegetative reflex testing using Vega

As a certified Hellinger Constellation therapist and psychologist his chapter on healing the soul is profound.

And then, last but not least, he turns a spotlight upon the shortcomings of the current view of the causation of cancer and the poor outcomes of the current allopathic treatment modalities ie: either to burn the tumour using radiation (radiotherapy) or to poison the tumour (and its owner) using the highly potent toxins in chemotherapy. Not only, he states, are these treatments not effective, they are also highly unpleasant and may actually be counter-productive, causing secondaries, further poisoning the immune response and causing the cancer to return in a more aggressive form.

Dr Georgiou then goes on to outline a completely different and much more plausible model of the pathological processes involved in the development of cancer. He then details the many alternative treatment approaches available to those with cancer.

Summary of Curing the 'Incurable'

This book is a serious read which can be quite technical and presupposes an understanding of biochemistry and physiology, but as such, it is an excellent reference.

Although many of the technologies Dr Georgiou details require specialist knowledge and equipment, he also outlines many DIY techniques including enemas, detoxification baths, dietary changes, liver flushes and foot baths that the reader can apply.

If you are sick and looking for a different way of tackling your illness this book acts as a comprehensive guide to another way of viewing disease and provides a road map for recovery.

If you are a natural health practitioner this book may open your horizons to the many other diagnostic and therapeutic techniques that are now available.

Most practitioners are holding a small piece of the health and disease puzzle. Dr George Georgiou - as much as it is possible in one lifetime - has accumulated many pieces of the puzzle and presents them to us in this informative, thoughtful and detailed book. With many therapies gathered under 'one roof', Curing the 'Incurable' will act as the natural health bible for the emerging paradigm.
