"I used to be a very clever student but in time mercury really messed with my life! My brain, health, and emotions deteriorated almost to the point of suicide. I sometimes ask 'Who was that person?' and sometimes I still cry about it."

Dental Amalgam & Mercury Toxicity: The Science

All of the research articles listed below have been reproduced by kind permission of Bernard Windham who is a biochemist by day and who acts as the chief scientific advisor to the US campaign group Dental Amalgam Mercury Syndrome (D.A.M.S.) Organisation in his 'spare' time!

The criticism often levelled against anti-amalgam groups is that there is no conclusive proof of mercury toxicity from vapour in dental amalgam fillings.

This, as you will see, is just not true.

There are over four thousand peer-reviewed published papers cited in the 600 pages of research articles below. In addition, there are published and documented reports of over 60,000 cases of health improvements and recoveries in a variety of health conditions with judicious removal of dental amalgam fillings when combined with effective detoxification of the accumulated body burden of mercury.

As you will see from the small amount of the total research reproduced below, the problem is not that we don't have enough scientific evidence to demonstrate the immense physical, mental, emotional and generational harm that mercury toxicity derived from dental amalgam fillings is having upon the human population.

It is that there is no political will and probably a good deal of political embarrassment about tackling the subject of the mercury poisoning from dental amalgam fillings after the authorities have insisted that it is safe for so many decades.

There is a lot of technical information here for those with a particular interest in, or understanding of, human physiology and biochemistry - such as doctors or dentists. However, if you are a 'lay' visitor there is plenty of information here for you too. Some of it may be too technical for you to understand in detail - but it is the broad brush strokes that count.

Also, if anyone questions your stance on the matter - you may wish to wave some (or all) of the following research papers under their nose!

The research documents on this page are all available in PDF format which requires the Adobe (free) Acrobat Reader.

Health Effects on Dental Personnel of Exposure to Mercury Vapour

Health Effects on Dental Personnel of Exposure to Mercury Vapour

Dental offices are known to be one of the largest users of inorganic mercury (26, 71b). It is well documented that dentists and dental personnel who work with amalgam are chronically exposed to mercury vapour, which accumulates in their bodies to much higher levels than for most non-occupationally exposed. Adverse health effects of this exposure including neurological effects have also been well documented that affect most dentists and dental assistants ...

Mercury, Food Intolerances and Chronic Digestive Disorders and Proven Treatments

Mercury, Food Intolerances and Chronic Digestive Disorders and Proven Treatments

When intestinal permeability is increased, food and nutrient absorption is impaired. Dysfunction in intestinal permeability can result in leaky gut syndrome, where larger molecules and toxins in the intestines can pass through the membranes and into the blood, triggering an immune response (6). Progressive damage can occur to the intestinal lining, eventually allowing disease-causing bacteria, undigested food particles, and toxins to pass directly into the blood stream.

The Effect of Electromagnetism on Mercury Vapour Release from Amalgam Fillings

The Effect of Electromagnetism on Mercury Vapour Release from Amalgam Fillings

Having dissimilar metals in the teeth (e.g. amalgam, or gold and mercury, or stainless steel and mercury) causes galvanic action, electrical currents, and much higher mercury vapour levels and levels in oral tissues (1-11, 30). The amount of mercury released into saliva has been found by large studies to be about 1.5 to 1.9 micrograms per litre for each additional dental amalgam filling (26). The amount of mercury released ...

Incidence Levels and Chronic Health Effects Related to Dental Cavitations

Incidence Levels and Chronic Health Effects Related to Dental Cavitations

A cavitation is a hole in the bone, often where a tooth has been removed and the bone has not filled in properly. In the last several years, the term cavitation has been used to describe various bone lesions which appear both as empty holes in the jawbones and holes filled with dead bone and bone marrow (5). Dead, cavitational areas, which produce pain, are now called NICO (Neuralgia Inducing Osteonecrosis) lesions (6). Cavitations are often a ...

MISCELLANEOUS HEALTH RESEARCH

The Adverse Effects of Pharmaceuticals

The Adverse Effects of Pharmaceuticals

1. Studies have found pharmaceutical use to be a leading cause of hospitalisations and the third leading cause of deaths (1). In 1998 an extensive study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) showed that 106,000 people die each year in American hospitals from medication side effects (1). But studies also show that less than 5% of hospitalisations and deaths due to pharmaceuticals are identified as such so the actual total is much higher.
